LAS VEGAS – Just in time for the holidays, Nevada State Bank donated more than 5,000 non-perishable food items, or 11.5 barrels, to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission – 50 items more than the amount collected in last year’s drive. The donation is the result of contributions from bank colleagues and the community.
“The Las Vegas Rescue Mission is a tremendous asset to our community,” said Craig Kirkland, executive vice president, director of retail banking for Nevada State Bank and member of the Las Vegas Rescue Mission board of directors. “Giving back to our community is an important core value at Nevada State Bank and we proudly support the positive impact the Rescue Mission makes in our city every day.”
In addition to the annual food drive, Nevada State Bank colleagues volunteer their time to serve meals at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission throughout the year and participate in the annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes event that raises awareness of the struggles faced by local homeless.
Founded in 1970, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission provides meals, shelters and recovery programs to people in need. The organization serves approximately 30,000 meals a month. The Rescue Mission also operates a thrift store at 480 W. Bonanza Road.
