RENO, NV — A Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners investigative committee on Oct. 16, 2024, suspended Las Vegas psychiatrist Dr. Hisbay Ali’s medical license because of misconduct allegations.
The board received complaints that Ali initiated a sexual relationship with a patient, prescribed controlled substances illegally and failed to disclose a criminal history that included a 2022 domestic violence arrest and a 2024 DUI arrest for driving with a blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit. Ali crashed his car before his arrest.
“The board uses summary suspension rarely,” board Executive Director Edward Cousineau said. “But, in this case the investigative committee, based on a cumulative record of misconduct, was compelled to suspend Dr. Ali’s medical license because of the clear potential for continued harm to the citizens of Nevada.”
Ali is barred from practicing medicine in Nevada, pending the board’s further order. A status hearing on the suspension is set for 1:30 p.m., Nov. 4 at the board’s main office, 9600 Gateway Drive in Reno.
