The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) is embarking on a comprehensive search to select an interim chancellor following the recent discontinuation of its chancellor search. To ensure fairness, transparency, and the inclusion of diverse perspectives, NSHE Board of Regents Chair Byron Brooks and Vice Chair Joseph Arrascada will be meeting with NSHE institution presidents and other stakeholders. These meetings, scheduled to begin the week of July 17, will provide an opportunity for input regarding the qualities and experience desired in an interim chancellor. Chair Brooks intends to consider the feedback received when solidifying a recommendation for the Board.
“The selection of an interim chancellor is a matter I take with the utmost seriousness,” said Brooks. “Recognizing the critical role this position plays in upholding higher education values, advancing institution missions, and fostering an environment conducive to growth and innovation, I am committed to conducting a comprehensive process to identify a qualified individual in accordance with policy and presenting that candidate to the Board for consideration and approval.”
Recognizing the critical role this position plays in fostering growth, innovation, and upholding higher education values, the Board of Regents plans to hold a special meeting in early August to review the recommendation for the interim chancellor appointment. NSHE is confident that this comprehensive process will result in the selection of a highly qualified individual who will further enhance the system’s commitment to excellence in higher education.
