RENO, Nevada – Nevada Women’s Fund (NWF) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 scholarship cycle on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Applications for 2025 scholarships will remain open until Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, and awards will be announced in April 2025. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $5,000 and will assist Northern Nevada women pursuing higher education and career advancement in a variety of fields.
Since awarding the first scholarship in 1983, NWF has distributed more than $9.9 million in scholarships and grants to empower achievement in women and families in Northern Nevada. Though the dollar amount is significant, the impact of educating women goes beyond a measurable scope. Many of the scholarship recipients are re-entry women and single mothers who have not had the opportunity to complete their education due to family issues and/or financial constraints.
Unlike the traditional practice of sending funds to educational institutions, NWF’s scholarships are given directly to each recipient. This approach empowers recipients to decide how to allocate the funds in a manner that best serves their specific needs and those of their families. Whether it’s securing housing and transportation, putting food on the table, covering childcare expenses, purchasing textbooks or paying for tuition, this flexibility enhances the impact of even the minimum scholarship of $2,000. Funds may continue to be allocated until the degree is completed, provided the recipient demonstrates ongoing financial need and maintains satisfactory academic performance.
