LAS VEGAS—Nevada Youth Soccer Association (NYSA) announced today that it has been awarded a $30,000 grant from U.S. Soccer’s Innovate to Grow Fund. The organization’s grant will help build NYSA’s new “Soccer Sprouts” program, and funds will be used towards a grassroots soccer jamboree that NYSA will host this year. The Soccer Sprouts program will provide opportunities for new players ages 4-12 to have an introduction to soccer in a fun and inclusive environment.
The jamboree will involve sanctioned leagues and members who will collaborate with NYSA and have booths with interactive skills, referee sign-ups, coaching education, league sign-ups, and more. Players and other interested parties that attend will have an introduction to soccer and an immediate way to sign up participants to keep playing.
“We are truly excited to be chosen to receive the U.S. Soccer Innovate to Grow grant,” said Melanie Stafford, executive director of NYSA. “These funds will help us attract younger soccer players to learn and enjoy soccer at an introductory level and allow us to grow the great sport of soccer throughout the state of Nevada.”
