Nikki Fargas, president of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, will join the 2022 Women of Distinction Award (WODA) event for a fireside chat with attendees. Hosted by the Southern Nevada chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), this year’s luncheon will be held at Conference Center of Las Vegas, 6590 Bermuda Road, in Las Vegas, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 25th.
“Nikki Fargas brings so much great energy and experience to share with our WODA attendees,” said Sonia Petkewich, NAWBO Southern Nevada chapter president. “She is the person whom young girls are watching and saying ‘I can do that, too!’”
The Las Vegas Aces hired Fargas as the team’s president on May 11, 2021. She oversees the basketball and business operations for the franchise, which won the 2022 WNBA championship. Prior to joining the Aces, she served as the head coach of the LSU Women’s Basketball team where she compiled a record of 176-128 with five 20-win seasons and six NCAA tournament appearances.
In 2010, Fargas joined the Board of Directors for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and is currently serving on the Executive Committee as the Vice Chair. Over the summer of 2020, Fargas became a founding member of the Black Student-Athlete Association at LSU and is also a member of the LSU Athletic Leadership Council on Diversity and Inclusion. She also serves on the board for Advancements of Blacks in sports.
Founded in 1975 as the voice of women business owners, NAWBO’s mission is to help connect women to the resources, people, information, and organizations that can help them achieve their personal, professional, or political goals.
