North Las Vegas, Nev. – Today, the City of North Las Vegas hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its Sparkle Park Project, marking a significant milestone in the City’s comprehensive park renovation plan. The initiative includes various updates including new splash pads, play equipment, dog parks, and upgraded lighting in each of the 20 parks included in the program.
Officials from the City of North Las Vegas used the groundbreaking at Valley View Park to encourage residents to share their thoughts and input on how to improve parks across the city in their online survey here.
“Our parks are essential to providing recreation and opportunities for community gathering across the City,” said Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown. “The Sparkle Park Project represents a significant investment in our community, and we are excited to unveil the transformation of Valley View Park and other parks in the city.”
The City of North Las Vegas has gathered a thorough short-term and long-term park improvement strategy, consisting of a six to nine-month construction time frame and has allocated over $11 million in funding for the Sparkle Project which included funds from Fund 268.
Fund 268 has been instrumental in investing in a water conservation plan, modernizing irrigation systems, upgrading park lighting to energy-efficient LED lighting, enhancing the city’s public safety camera system, and rehabilitating existing parks, pools, recreational facilities, and community centers over the past 29 years.
Construction will be concentrated on eight parks, one in each ward, along with both Tot lot parks and an additional park in the two southern wards. The first set of parks to receive renovations will include Ward 1 Rotary Tot Lot, Brooks Tot Lot, College Park, Joe Kneip, Ward 2 Valley View Park, Prentiss Walker Park and Pool, Ward 3 Flores Park, and Ward 4 Gold Crest Park.
