From the start, the Vegas Golden Knights have prioritized building an authentic connection to the southern Nevada community. Just as the residents of the Las Vegas Valley support the team on the ice, the Golden Knights players and staff have given their time, raised money and donated to worthy causes that serve the members of the community.
The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation was created to lead the team’s charitable efforts, with a focus on five pillars: youth sports, health and wellness, education, first responders and veterans and hunger and homelessness. The Foundation raises money through various events and in-game efforts, including a 51/49 raffle, jersey and memorabilia auctions and other initiatives. This past season welcomed the return of the team’s biggest event, the VGK Gala, and record-breaking support of initiatives like the 51/49 Raffle. Thanks to the generosity of the team’s fans, plus contributions from ownership, staff, and players, the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation donated $1.8 million to more than 80 area charities and organizations in 2022.
Owner Bill Foley, the team’s staff and its players all call Las Vegas home. Supporting the community that gives the Golden Knights so much has been a priority since before the team even took the ice for the first time in 2017. Individuals at all levels of the organization, including the players, give their time to support various causes and strengthen that bond between them and the community.
In 2023, the team and its fans celebrated the ultimate prize in hockey – the Stanley Cup – culminating with a parade down Las Vegas Boulevard and a rally in front of T-Mobile Arena. As hundreds of thousands of fans cheered and interacted with the team, that connection with the community was as evident as ever.
