LAS VEGAS – Project 150 is distributing 4,000 traditional holiday meal boxes during Thanksgiving and Christmas to help feed homeless, displaced and disadvantaged local high school students and their families.
Each holiday meal box contains a full traditional Thanksgiving feast, including turkey (or ham), stuffing, vegetables, gravy and mashed potatoes.
Starting in November, volunteers will begin preparing holiday meal boxes at Project 150’s facility at 3600 N. Rancho Drive. The holiday meal boxes will then be distributed Nov. 17 to the 75 high schools that Project 150 serves across Southern Nevada.
So far this year, the Las Vegas homegrown nonprofit has served more than 6,800 local high school students with free food, clothing, hygiene items and school supplies through its distribution program throughout Southern Nevada high schools and its Betty’s Boutique.
“With the help of the community, our goal is to ensure high school students and their families enjoy a lovely meal together during the holidays,” said Kelli Kristo, executive director of Project 150. “The need has always been great, but even more so in today’s economy with high inflation.”
Project 150 plans to distribute 2,000 holiday meal boxes during Thanksgiving and another 2,000 before Christmas. All monetary donations are welcome and a gift of $25 provides a family of four with a full holiday meal. Gift cards to grocery stores are also being accepted and can a be dropped off at Project 150.

Project 150 is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization, founded in December 2011 by local businessmen Don Purdue and Patrick Spargur. The two heard about 150 homeless high school students at Rancho High School in Las Vegas who were in need of support over the Christmas break. Since that time, Project 150 has expanded and now serves more than 6,800 registered and non-registered homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students in more than 75 schools in Nevada. Project 150 provides these students with food, clothing, school supplies, sports equipment, shoes, college scholarships, workforce readiness, and other needs so they can continue school and be successful in life.
