LAS VEGAS – Project 150 is partnering with Zappos.com to make prom dreams come true for homeless, displaced and disadvantaged students in Southern Nevada with the annual Las Vegas Prom Closet event on Saturday, March 17.
The event offers high-school students the opportunity to shop for fashionable prom outfits for free with a student ID card. Students can choose from a selection of thousands of gently used dresses, tuxes and suits, shoes, and accessories. A personal shopper will help students select the perfect outfit. Services are also provided to assist students with hair styling, beauty needs, and dance lessons. More than 1,300 teens attended the event in 2017.
This year’s prom closet will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Zappos Plaza, 400 Stewart Ave, Las Vegas, 89101. Each student with a valid ID card may bring one guest.
“This event makes going to prom a possibility for so many students in Southern Nevada,” said Meli Pulido, Project 150 executive director. “The quality of our formal wear truly leaves students looking and feeling amazing. This event wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of Zappos, local businesses, and community donations. Thank you to everyone who is making these students’ prom dreams come true.”
No additional donations are needed for this year’s event. Project 150 is in need of monetary donations to support its students. To donate and for information on Project 150, visit www.project150.org or follow Project 150 on Facebook and Twitter.
About Project 150
Project 150 is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization, founded in December 2011 by local businessmen Don Purdue and Patrick Spargur. The two had heard about 150 homeless high school students at Rancho High School in Las Vegas who were in need of support over the Christmas break. Since that time, Project 150 has expanded and now serves more than 6,000 registered and non-registered homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students in more than 75 schools throughout Nevada. Project 150 provides these students with food, clothing, school supplies, sports equipment, shoes, college and workforce readiness and other needs so they have what they need to continue school and be successful in life.
