LAS VEGAS —Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada (JASN) announced that Michael Crome, senior vice president and chief financial officer for the Las Vegas Raiders and Allegiant Stadium, has been chosen from among more than 100,000 U.S. volunteers as one of 11 recipients of the Junior Achievement USA’s most prestigious award for volunteerism, the Gold Leadership Award.
Crome, past chairman of the JASN board, received the Gold Leadership Award for his local JA volunteer service of the youth financial education nonprofit during the 2021-2022 school year. Presented during a national JA recognition event in Washington, D.C, the award honors volunteer excellence, presented in recognition of leadership in supporting and expanding JA’s student impact, resources, operational excellence and sustainability.
“Michael has gone above and beyond when it comes to Junior Achievement,” said Jack E. Kosakowski, president and CEO of Junior Achievement USA. “He benefited significantly as a student in JA but has since returned the favor many times over as a supporter and volunteer for JA. He is a tremendous role model for the young people we serve.”
Michelle Jackson, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, said that volunteers from the local business community are critical to JA achieving its mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy. “Michael Crome is a remarkable example of dedication and service to others, and it’s not surprising that national JA has recognized his efforts,” she said. “His own experience, both as a JA student and as a business professional, is invaluable in helping our students gain the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.”
Junior Achievement’s positive impact on Crome’s life inspired him to give back to his community and help young people with their future careers, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. He currently volunteers with Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada and is leading its capital campaign to bring a permanent facility to Southern Nevada for JA’s two capstone programs, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park. The building and endowment program is on track for completion next year. He previously served on the JASN board of directors for over a decade, including two years as chairman.
Volunteers play a vital role in Junior Achievement’s ability to deliver its needed financial education curriculum locally and throughout the country – typically in classrooms during the school day, by volunteer role models from the local business community.
