LAS VEGAS (Oct. 17, 2024) – Yesterday, Green Our Planet hosted their 11th annual Fall Giant Student Farmers Market at the Clark County Government Center. Over 330 students from 33 Clark County School District (CCSD) schools participated in the market selling fresh produce and handmade crafts with all proceeds returning to the schools to amplify and preserve schools’ garden programs. In total, the schools raised $9,956.45.
“The farmers market provides student farmers with a hands-on learning experience, from understanding how produce grows to practicing environmental conservation and engaging with customers,” said Ciara Byrne, CEO of Green Our Planet. “We’re overjoyed by the incredible turnout and deeply grateful to our community partners for their support in making this event such a success.”
Green Our Planet rolled out the green carpet for the Farmpreneurs as they arrived at the market. FORMULA 1 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, the presenting sponsor of the 2024 Fall Farmers Market, were in attendance alongside a Las Vegas Grand Prix car and an appearance from the Las Vegas Aviators’ mascot, Spruce.
“As part of our commitment to supporting organizations that enhance the lives of Southern Nevada residents, we’re absolutely thrilled to see the response from the Las Vegas community in support of these young Farmpreneurs,” stated Lori Nelson-Kraft SVP, Corporate Affairs of Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. “Events like these not only highlight the entrepreneurial spirit of our youth but also show how much this community values sustainability and growth.”
Green Our Planet’s Giant Student Farmers Market was made possible with support from Bank of Nevada, Venetian Resorts, Clark County Nevada, Clark County School District, Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, Credit One Bank, United Way of Southern Nevada, U.S. Bank, Nevada Energy and Nevada State Bank.
“I’m incredibly proud of these Farmpreneurs for using their leadership, financial literacy and business skills to create such a successful farmers market,” said Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick. “Their dedication and passion for this event is truly inspiring.”
Green Our Planet assists teachers to enhance student academic performance in STEM and foster environmental stewardship in their students through project-based hydroponics and outdoor garden education.
