LAS VEGAS (June 4, 2024) – On May 23, UnitedHealthcare Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid announced a $140,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, providing local kids with much-needed after school and school break programs. As part of the donations, 50 younger kids will receive scholarships that cover the weekly cost of summer camp, and provide multiple fun activities including Fun Fridays, Summer Brain Gain activities, weekly field trips, dress-up days, themed music weeks and breakfast and lunch.
Club members, staff and UnitedHealthcare representatives gathered at the Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada, as Kelly Simonson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid presented the check to the Clubs.

After-school care plays a critical role in child development, helping kids learn healthy behaviors and develop the skills they need to succeed in school and life,” said Simonson. “We are honored to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada to provide children with safe and enriching educational and social experiences.”
Over 90% of Club families receive some childcare or financial assistance, 57% make less than $30,000 annually and 65% are single-family households, with most being run by single mothers.
