Nov. 20, 2025 (Reno, Nev.) – Two REMSA Health emergency medical services (EMS) providers were recognized for their heroic response to a recent 9-1-1 call. William Bryant Hines, paramedic, and David Biggs, advanced emergency medical technician, were both awarded Commendation Medal Bar honors during the District Board of Health meeting Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025.
The Commendation Medal Bar recognizes EMS professionals who display decisive initiative and play a critical role in providing patient care during a time of urgent need. Hines and Biggs received the recognition for their response to a behavioral health emergency that took place in a high-traffic area.
“Bryant and David responded with the skill, calm and compassion that define exceptional first responders,” said Adam Heinz, COO, REMSA Health. “Their heroic actions reflect the very best of REMSA Health and our commitment to serve and care for our community.”
Service award bars began in the military, recognizing acts of bravery, service, or accomplishments, and continue to be an important part of recognition for first responders.
