April 17, 2025 (RENO, Nev.) – REMSA Health honored three healthcare providers at the state capital today as part of the Nevada Ambulance Association’s (NAA) Stars of Life event. Heather Bushey, flight nurse, Dale Miller, communications supervisor and Ryan Yarbrough, paramedic were selected by the organization as exceptional healthcare providers and contributors to the emergency medical services (EMS) profession. Bushey, Miller and Yarbrough were honored at the Statehouse with EMS colleagues from across Nevada.“Every day I am humbled and inspired by the men and women who choose out-of-hospital healthcare as a career,” said Barry Duplantis, president and chief executive officer, REMSA Health. “Dale, Heather and Ryan exemplify the characteristics and dedication of the dispatchers, nurses, and paramedics who care for communities across our state. I am delighted that we can recognize their contributions with this honor.”
Bushey came to REMSA Health in 1999 and eventually joined Care Flight, the critical care transport division of REMSA Health, where she was among the first group of the division’s full-time paramedics. In 2015 she moved into a flight nurse role. Previously, she served as the Gardnerville base coordinator and continues to work as a preceptor. She served honorably in the Army National Guard from 1994 to 2004 as a medic in field hospital and medevac units. Bushey holds a bachelor’s degree in science and nursing.
Miller has more than 28 years of experience in emergency communications and is a certified emergency medical/fire dispatcher. He joined the organization in 1997 and has held the position of communications specialist, air communications specialist, and emergency medical dispatcher-quality improvement coordinator. In 2006, Miller graduated from the Fitch & Associates Ambulance Service Manager course.
Yarbrough became an emergency medical technician in 2019, and joined REMSA Health in 2023 as a paramedic. Since then, he has cleared his training to work as a paramedic, completed training to work as an emergency medical/fire dispatcher and became a critical care technician to support the Care Flight critical care ground ambulance.
The state-based Stars of Life event includes an awards banquet, a welcome breakfast, photos at the State Capital and meetings with the state legislators who represent the Stars’ legislative district. Through this special day of advocacy and recognition, NAA member organizations celebrate team members who make meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of the state’s residents through the EMS profession.
