Technology upgrade keeps working displays out of the landfill while supporting youth programs across the Reno community.
RENO, Nev., June 10, 2026 — As part of an upcoming digital display upgrade at RenoTahoe International Airport, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) and Pacific Digital Signs have partnered to donate 45 LCD displays to the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows rather than sending the equipment to a landfill.
The donation reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, community partnership, and extending the useful life of commercial technology. The displays, which are being replaced as part of an airport modernization effort, will be repurposed to support Boys & Girls Club facilities, programs, communications, and youth-focused activities throughout the Reno area.
Pacific Digital Signs, a digital signage and audiovisual integration company with local roots in the Reno-Tahoe region, is supporting the effort as part of its broader commitment to helping local organizations benefit from high-quality display technology.
“Technology upgrades should create value beyond the original project,” said Vince Mitchell, President of Pacific Digital Signs. “When we learned these displays still had useful life, we saw an opportunity to work with RTAA and help put them back to work in the community. Supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is a great example of how AV projects can deliver a positive local impact.”
The donation also helps reduce electronic waste by diverting functional equipment from disposal and placing it into the hands of an organization serving thousands of young people and families in Northern Nevada.

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows provides safe, supportive environments where youth can learn, grow, and build skills for the future. The donated displays will be used to enhance internal communications, program messaging, digital learning environments, donor recognition, event information, and other club needs, along with donations to families in need.
