The Riverwalk Merchants Assoc., a 501(c)-6 non-profit organization consisting of a coalition of more than 75 small business owners, announced the launch of, a digital self-care initiative. The initiative was developed to provide resources and information that help increase the health and wellness of small business owners and the community. Outsider’s Hair Studio and Riverwalk District President, Nellie Davis, in partnership with the local organization and community leaders, will be working together in the coming months to improve productivity, service consistency, and overall wellness in the workspace virtual and not, through inclusivity and education.
Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
“We believe that this community-wide collaboration will significantly improve our fellow business owners, improve workplace wellness, and advance career longevity, productivity, and health,” said Nellie Davis, Riverwalk Merchants Assoc. President and small business owner.
The association believes that through technology-based wellness solutions and education, business owners can increase their career longevity by over 50%. During this time of COVID shutdowns, the mental health and personal self-care of business owners, their families, and their staff are essential to maintaining their physical wellbeing and career longevity.
The Digital tool kit can be found online at the Riverwalk Merchants Assoc. Website, RenoRiverWalk.org. The information is open to the public and includes downloadable resources, a brochure of information, social media assets for sharing, and essential tips for personal self-care.
Expanding the initiative:
Earlier this year, the “Community Caregivers Initiative” program was launched by downtown leaders to give back to front line responders and downtown ambassadors during the global crisis. “Feed Our Heroes”, “Together We are One,” and “Reno Resilient” are also notable programs that were activated to help motivate, educate, and inspire both community members and business owners, while encouraging the importance of mental health. These programs are all born from the collaboration of business owners and stakeholders in the Riverwalk District.
Through the continuation of the collective efforts and passion for educating our community, the Riverwalk District businesses have proven to be at the forefront of helping shine light on the incredible importance of prevention and wellness.
