SilverSummit Healthplan joined the Nevada Women’s Fund today to celebrate the recipients of the organization’s 2026 scholarship program, recognizing Nevada women who are overcoming barriers to pursue higher education. At a scholarship celebration held at the Nevada Women’s Fund office in Reno, SilverSummit honored this year’s scholarship recipients. Through this continued partnership, SilverSummit’s Community Reinvestment Program again supported the Nevada Women’s Fund with a $50,000 award to fund these scholarships.
The scholarships provide critical financial assistance to women in northern Nevada pursuing education, particularly those who have faced financial hardship, family obligations, career interruptions, or other life challenges.
The recipients represent a diverse group of women from across Northern and rural Nevada, including re-entry students, single mothers and non-traditional learners working to complete degrees, certifications and workforce training programs.
“At SilverSummit Healthplan, we believe that education can transform lives -improving health, strengthening economic stability, and opening new doors to new opportunities,” said Eric Schumaker, Plan President and CEO of SilverSummit Healthplan. “Through our partnership with Nevada Women’s Fund, we are proud to invest in women who are building a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.”
Since 1983, Nevada Women’s Fund has awarded $11 million in scholarships to women across Northern and rural Nevada, helping them achieve educational and career goals that might otherwise be out of reach. By reducing financial barriers, the program empowers recipients to build stronger futures while creating lasting benefits for their families and communities.
“Meaningful change happens when organizations come together around a common purpose. We are grateful for SilverSummit Healthplan’s partnership and their dedication to empowering Nevada women to build stronger futures for themselves and their families.” Ila Friedenthal – President & CEO of Nevada Women’s Fund
