St. Vincent’s Food Pantry Will Provide More Than 6,500 Holiday Meals Through the Annual Feeding Families Food Giveaway Event
Reno, Nev. – Thanks to generous donations from local community members and businesses, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada will be giving away more than 6,500 holiday meals to families in need locally and throughout rural Nevada through St. Vincent’s Food Pantry. Each holiday meal will include a ham along with holiday fixings such as canned fruits and vegetables, boxed potatoes, bread, and a dessert.
“Feeding Families is a program to ensure the underserved members of our community feel the warmth of community and security of a warm meal,” said Marie Baxter, CEO, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada.
The annual Feeding Families Food Giveaway event will provide 4,000 holiday meals for local Reno/Sparks families on Wednesday, December 4. Catholic Charities volunteers and staff members will be distributing food from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Families who are receiving meals may begin lining up outside of St. Vincent’s Food Pantry, located at 500 E. Fourth Street in Reno, as early as 5 a.m. In order to receive a holiday meal, families must be pre-registered to receive a food bag. Those interested can visit St. Vincent’s Food Pantry before December 3 to pre-register.
In previous years, Catholic Charities has been able to expand their Feeding Families Food Giveaway to Northern Nevada families living outside the Reno/Sparks area and anticipates that another 2,500 meals will be delivered to residents living in rural communities throughout Northern Nevada.
St. Vincent’s Food Pantry is the largest food pantry in the state of Nevada and serves an average of 15,000 people each month.
