Community superheroes came together and raised more than $34,000 to help the nonprofit Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) in the battle against youth homelessness during the 8th Annual Homeless Youth in the Alley Bowling Tournament.
In addition to bowling, the superhero-themed event’s 350 participants enjoyed a raffle, photo booth, social media photo contest, lunch, award presentations and more, with John Mac of Sunny 106.5 serving as emcee. The Huntington and Ellis – A Real Estate Agency team was presented with the life-size championship traveling trophy. Sletten Construction placed second, and Tropicana Las Vegas Casino Hotel Resort came in third. Additional awards were given to Boy Scout Troop 9 for best superhero costumes and best superhero team name, Fifty Shades of Crazy, and Optum RX as the most successful fundraising team for raising over $2,800.
Homeless Youth in the Alley sponsors included Expedia, Sletten Construction, Zappos, Arizona Charlie’s, Tropicana Las Vegas Casino Hotel Resort and PhotoGuys, each with teams in the tournament. Other participating company teams included iHeart Media, last year’s champion; Signature Realty; Promo Direct; and Southwest Gas. The Guardians of the Galaxy Cosplay team also played.
Event proceeds allow NPHY to continue providing life-saving services for the more than 14,000 homeless youth in Southern Nevada, helping teens get off the streets and meeting their most basic needs while fostering their transition to long-term self-sufficiency and success.
Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth is the most comprehensive service provider for homeless youth in Southern Nevada, serving hundreds of youth through its core programs and touching the lives of thousands more through outreach each year.
