Susan Hoy earned The National Association of Women Business Owners Southern Nevada (NAWBO) chapter’s 2022 Women of Distinction Award (WODA) in the professional services/public relations category.
Hoy started Nevada Guardian Services (NGS) in 2007 after spending nearly two decades as an admissions coordinator for a large Valley healthcare facility. Nevada Guardian Services now has a team of six professionals, including certified guardians, social service professionals, and Medicaid and Bookkeeping experts.
The organization offers guardianship, Medicaid, and public benefits consultation, trust, and probate administration. As a member of the National Guardianship Association, NGS and its staff adhere to the National Guardianship Standards and Ethical Practices in its case management and service to others.
In 2015, Hoy was appointed to the Nevada State Supreme Court Commission to study the administration of guardianships. In her role, she helped create legislation to improve guardianship practices in the Silver State.
“I’m honored to be recognized by NAWBO for work that means so much to me and that serves some of the state’s most vulnerable populations,” Hoy said. “It’s humbling to have my name mentioned alongside so many strong Nevada women whom NAWBO has chosen to celebrate this year.”
NAWBO Southern Nevada is one of 60 NAWBO chapters around the country. The local chapter honors women entrepreneurs and difference-makers every year at its annual WODA luncheon. This year’s event was held in late October at the Conference Center of Las Vegas.
