Teachers Health Trust (THT), the 42-year-old, self-funded, nonprofit health insurance plan for educators in Clark County, Nevada, held a free health fair today offering health screenings, vaccinations, dental exams, and informative presentations for local teachers and their families.
Most services were free to THT members at the event and provided by THT health care partners.
Doctoroo, a mobile urgent care provider, offered complimentary health care screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose, blood oxygen, and heart rate, that are important for the early detection of diseases. TruHearing provided hearing screenings.
A variety of free vaccinations were administered by Albertson’s for both kids and adults, including COVID, pneumonia, Hepatitis A, B, and A/B, polio, MMR, chicken pox, Tdap, and meningococcal.
Jet Dental provided full x-rays, dental exams, cleanings, and cavity fillings for both children and adults at the event.
In addition, three informational presentations were held on topics popular with teachers and their families. Belinda Marchoud, MA, LMFT, conducted a 45-minute presentation entitled “Killing the ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts).” Registered dietician Julie Usdavin spoke on healthy nutrition, exercise, stress management, and restorative sleep practices. And Doctoroo providers led the presentation “Know Where to Go” on how to seek appropriate medical care.
“We are committed to providing Clark County educators and their families with health care services that enhance their well-being, and our health fair is a great event where our members can access various health care screenings, important vaccines, and useful information all for free and at one convenient location,” said Tom Zumtobel, CEO of Teachers Health Trust.
The THT Health Fair also had nearly two dozen vendor tables for THT health care providers to educate attendees on their specific services, including primary care, pediatrics, mental health, dental, and vision care.
Finally, several lucky attendees won various raffle prizes, including gift cards, a pizza oven, performance sunglasses, handheld massage devices, electric toothbrushes, and swag bags.
