In a show of unwavering solidarity with the people of Israel during these challenging times, Temple Beth Sholom is proud to announce the launch of a campaign to dedicate a Mobile Intensive Care Unit Ambulance (MICU) for Magen David Adom (MDA). This initiative comes in response to the recent horrifying attack suffered by our brothers and sisters in Israel on October 7, and the ongoing conflict with Hamas.
Rabbi Felipe Goodman, a spiritual leader at Temple Beth Sholom, shared his heartfelt thoughts on the campaign, saying, “It’s hard to believe that it has been eighteen days since the horrific, barbaric attack suffered by our brothers and sisters in Israel this past October 7. As of today, Israel remains at war with Hamas, and there is no telling how much more complicated the situation can get in the days and weeks ahead.”
The rabbi continued, “I had the privilege of visiting the new Magen David Adom underground facility in The City of Ramleh and gained firsthand knowledge of the important role Magen David Adom would play if war broke out in Israel. I just never expected it to happen this soon. Based on what I saw and knowing how important prompt emergency medical attention will become in the coming weeks, we have decided to start a campaign to raise enough funds at Temple Beth Sholom to dedicate a Mobile Intensive Care Unit Ambulance (MICU) through Magen David Adom.”
The dedication of the MICU Ambulance will cost $140,000.00, and Temple Beth Sholom is confident that with the support of its congregation and the wider community, this goal can be achieved. Rabbi Felipe Goodman emphasized the significance of this effort, stating, “The dedication of the MICU sends a strong and clear message: We care, we are here, and our brothers and sisters in Israel can count on us in times of trouble.”
