The Foundation Assisting Seniors is excited to announce its partnership with STRIDE Fitness (STRIDE), a local fitness center that is now offering a new walking program designed for seniors, those with physical challenges, those coming out of rehab or those with limited physical mobility situations who need a gentle start.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with STRIDE Fitness and offering this fantastic walking program to our senior community,” said Favil West, co-founder of The Foundation Assisting Seniors. “The support we receive from STRIDE is invaluable, a donation from each membership purchased, including Silver Sneakers, will be given to our non-profit organization. We look forward to continuing to improve the quality of life of seniors by helping them maintain their independence as they continue living in their own homes as long as possible.”
The walking program at STRIDE features heart monitors and support from a professional coach. Each session runs for 55 minutes with thoughtful attention from a coach who helps participants achieve their fitness goals while having fun. Walkers use state-of-the-art treadmills at their own pace, and the sessions are driven by music familiar to the Silver Sneaker crowd.
For seniors with Silver Sneakers, the membership is free. All others can simply go to STRIDE Henderson, located at 2970 St. Rose Parkway, Suite 140 (near Home Goods), to sign up or call 725-235-7021 for more information. The next three classes will be at 3 p.m. on March 14, 21, and 28. Class times will be expanded based on interest.
Come and join the fun, and help support The Foundation Assisting Seniors!
