(Jan. 7, 2025) – The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) of the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations recognizes the Coker Pump & Equipment’s Fallon, Nevada location for successful entry into the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). The program recognizes Nevada businesses that exceed standards for worksite safety.
“At Coker Pump & Equipment, we place employee safety above all else,” said Stephen Newell, Shop Manager and Safety Officer for Coker Pump & Equipment. “SCATS helped us format and complete every step of our program. With their guidance, we were able to achieve the SHARP designation.”
Coker Pump & Equipment’s Fallon, Nevada team joins an elite group of businesses that have achieved SHARP status by maintaining exemplary health and safety standards. Participation in the no-cost program provides incentives and support to employers to develop, implement and continuously improve programs at their worksite(s). By taking these proactive measures, businesses can reduce accident costs and ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) regulations.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coker Pump & Equipment to the program and recognize them for their achievements in employee safety,” said Todd Schultz, Chief Administrative Officer for SCATS. “They prioritize their employees’ health and well-being and SCATS looks forward to our continued partnership.”
SCATS consultants provide employers with confidential hazard identification, program development, implementation assistance and training. Employers who implement effective safety programs and have a days-away restricted transfer (DART) rate below the national average for their industry may be recognized by SCATS. Successful SHARP participants may receive up to a three-year deferral from OSHA’s general schedule inspections.
