RENO – The Reno/Sparks Association of REALTORS (RSAR) recently launched a new “784 easy steps” campaign educating buyers and sellers to partner with REALTORS to make their home buying or selling process go smoothly.
“Some buyers and sellers do not realize the big task of buying or selling a home, something a REALTOR helps make seamless,” said Cherie Williams, CEO, RSAR. “You can run a huge risk of encountering one of many issues that can occur in the process, which could translate into costly mistakes later.”
Tapping into the education and experience, neighborhood knowledge and negotiation skills of a qualified, trained REALTOR are just a few attributes to support your decision for working with a professional. Currently, 9 percent of sellers go the route of For Sale By Owner (FSBO). According to the National Association of REALTORS, the most difficult task for a FSBO seller is to price the home correctly. On average, the national median sales price of a FSBO was $208,700; and the median sales price of an agent-assisted sale was $235,000.
“Today’s purchase agreements can run many, many pages,” said Angelica Reyes, REALTOR, RE/MAX Professionals. “That does not include the federal- and state-mandated disclosures, or any other disclosures. Most real estate files are about one to three inches of paper when stacked up. One mistake or omission could land you in court or cost you money.”
