As the new school year approaches, United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) and the Nevada Department of Education are proud to provide free high-quality preschool to families in need, thanks to $13.3 million in scholarships through the Nevada Ready! State Pre-K program. This school year, UWSN and nearly 50 Southern Nevada preschool centers will help 1,592 students enroll in preschool for free through the program, paving pathways to educational opportunities for local families.
“Access to quality early education creates opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom,” said Samuel Rudd, UWSN’s President & CEO. “It lays the foundation for lifelong success, empowering children to reach their potential and helping families achieve greater stability.”
Scholarships will be allocated through qualified centers to families in need, guided by childcare center recommendations and referrals. All participating centers adhere to the Quality Rating Improvement Systems (QRIS) established by the Nevada Department of Education.
Local families can visit uwsn.org/earlyeducation to view the eligibility requirements and fill out UWSN’s interest form to connect with a preschool center near them.
