Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada has hired William Abbott as its new director of development. He will lead the nonprofit organization’s development, communications and marketing teams, external relationships with current and potential donors, and strategic planning for efforts that inspire and prepare K-12 students for success by offering proven lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship.

Abbott’s nonprofit experience encompasses a variety of initiatives with the Boy Scouts of America, where he specialized in fund-development for the Orange County Council for almost 10 years and was recognized for its Emerging Stars program. He subsequently moved to Las Vegas a year ago as director of marketing and development for the Las Vegas Area Council.
He attributes his successful track record with the Boy Scouts to his belief in building lifelong relationships with donors and volunteers, and leveraging their skill sets to make the ultimate difference. It is this philosophy that he brings to Junior Achievement.
“We are thrilled to have William at Junior Achievement. His history in the nonprofit space and dedication to youth-serving organizations is a wonderful asset to our team,” said Michelle Jackson, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. “The timing is fortuitous as his experience and input is invaluable with our Over the Edge rappelling event in April and Lunchboxes & Learning: Swimming with the Big Fish program and Golden Ticket Raffle in May.”
Abbott holds a Bachelor in Business Management and Sustainability from Arizona State University and completed Fundamentals of Fundraising from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
When not working, Abbott enjoys the outdoors, where he skis, hunts and backpacks, and spending time with his fiancée, Reina, and his newly adopted German Shepherd, Hera. He is also active in the Rotary Club of Las Vegas.
