Nigro Construction team members highlight evolving career opportunities in Southern Nevada
Las Vegas, NV – As Southern Nevada continues to grow, so does the workforce building it. In celebration of Women in Construction Week and this year’s theme, “Level Up. Build Strong,” Nigro Construction is recognizing the growing role women are playing across the construction industry and the many career opportunities emerging within the field.
While women remain underrepresented in construction, the profession continues to evolve, creating new pathways for individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds to enter the industry. As a commercial construction company serving Southern Nevada for more than 40 years, Nigro Construction is proud to support that progress by creating opportunities for mentorship, career development and industry awareness for the next generation of construction professionals.
The Power of Mentorship
One way Nigro Construction supported Women in Construction Week was by participating in the Hammers & Hope event hosted by the Nevada State Contractors Board on Friday, March 6. Three of Nigro’s women team members served as mentors to more than 200 high school students and young women exploring careers in construction.
“Events like Hammers & Hope give students the chance to see firsthand the variety of opportunities that exist in this industry,” said Kayla Danielson, project manager at Nigro Construction. “Connecting with professionals who can share their experiences helps young people better understand what a career in construction can look like.”
During the event, the team shared their experiences working in the industry, discussed career paths and answered questions about the many roles available within construction — from project management and engineering to accounting, estimating and skilled trades.
“Construction offers so many different career paths, and many people don’t realize how transferable the skills can be,” said Caitlin Johnson, project engineer at Nigro Construction, who transitioned into construction after previously working in environmental consulting. “Whether your background is in engineering, consulting, finance or another field, there are opportunities to bring those skills into construction and build a meaningful career.”
A Culture That Supports Career Growth
Supporting mentorship and career development is part of Nigro Construction’s broader commitment to investing in its people. The company creates an environment where team members can grow their careers, develop leadership skills and take on new opportunities across projects throughout Southern Nevada.
“Construction is a rewarding industry where people can build long-term careers while making a visible impact in their communities,” said Cory Frank, vice president of business development and project management at Nigro Construction. “We’re proud of the culture we’ve built at Nigro and the opportunity we have to support both our team members and the next generation entering the field.”
