The donation includes revenue from the Association’s New Scalability Conference
RENO, Nev. —The Reno Rodeo Association is proud to announce a $5,000 donation to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, raised through the successful Scalability Conference held June 18-22, 2024. A check presentation took place in the rodeo arena on Thursday, June 27, and a total of $20,000 was presented to the fund. This included $15,000 from the Reno Rodeo Association bowling tournament fundraiser, held in January.
The Scalability Conference, chaired by Travis Lekas and created by Reno Rodeo President Carrie Ann Sattler, is a key part of Reno Rodeo’s ongoing efforts to support the rodeo community. The conference aims to support other rodeos in the PRCA and improve the industry overall by providing valuable insights and strategies to enhance the events and operations of smaller rodeo committees.
In its first year, the conference attracted 59 attendees from 22 rodeos and other events, underscoring the need for such initiatives and demonstrating a strong desire within the industry to learn, improve and grow.
Carrie Ann Sattler expressed her appreciation: “The success of the Scalability Conference demonstrates our commitment to not only improving rodeo events but also giving back to our community. By directing revenue from the conference to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, we are helping to provide essential support to our rodeo athletes when they need it most.”
The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF) is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides need-based financial assistance to athletes injured through their participation in professional rodeo. JCCF ensures that injured rodeo athletes have the resources they need to recover and return to the sport they love.
The Reno Rodeo Association remains committed to supporting the rodeo community through various initiatives and fundraisers, exemplifying the values of camaraderie and support that are at the heart of rodeo culture.
