RENO, Nev. – Construction is set to begin this month on the new Sportsdome XL in south Reno. The highly anticipated, 120,000-square-foot indoor facility will house sports for both children and adults. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2020 and will be the largest indoor multi-sport facility in northern Nevada.
Sportsdome XL will feature both indoor turf and court space for soccer, futsal, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, flag football and softball. In addition, there will be space available to book for corporate events, tradeshows, as well as birthday parties and quinceañeras. The event space at the facility will be available in parts or as a whole.
Sportsdome XL will be the second facility under the Reno Sportsdome brand. It will accommodate more than three times the capacity and offer a wider variety of sports and game viewing opportunities. The facility will include a large bar and lounge area with an expanded menu for visitors to enjoy.
“This exciting, cutting-edge sports facility will provide a space for the youth and adult population of northern Nevada to be active year-round,” said Owen Blake, owner of Reno Sportsdome. “We encountered some construction delays along the way, but we are now on track and are set to break ground. We are building a facility with multiple sport options that the entire community can enjoy. We plan to continue the Sportdome tradition of providing quality sports leagues but will now offer more space to incorporate additional sports and large tournaments.”
The original Reno Sportsdome remains open and will continue to operate with normal hours after the Sportsdome XL’s grand opening in 2020. In the next couple of months, registration will open for the Sportsdome XL’s leagues and programs. To secure a spot at the new location, the community is encouraged to visit www.renosportsdome.com and sign up to receive updates on registration for the new facility.
