Roel completes Red Rock Country Club facility
Roel Construction completed construction of the sports and fitness center at the new, private Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin. The $8 million, fully-equipped, 8,000-square-foot sports and fitness center includes a pool, tennis facilities and a food pavilion. Construction of a 45,000-square-foot clubhouse will begin soon, with construction on a 15,000-square-foot golf maintenance building and halfway house beginning in 2000.
Wells Cargo lands Spring Mountain rehab project
Wells Cargo, Inc. recently won a $2 million Spring Mountain Road rehabilitation project. The work entails repairing, widening and adding an additional lane on Spring Mountain Road from Rainbow Boulevard to Buffalo Road. The job will require 12,000 tons of asphalt, 15,000 cubic yards of aggregate and 23,000 cubic yards of excavation. Completion is scheduled for January.
New realty firm opens in Las Vegas
Husband-and-wife team Phil and Glenna Claire opened P and G Realty Unlimited in Las Vegas. The two established the firm in response to the growing need for specialized real estate services in the Las Vegas area. The firm will provide services in all relocation aspects, as well as the purchases and sales of homes. Phil Claire, the company’s CEO, also serves as a director for the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.
Carson to renovate McCarran C gates
Carson Construction Management Inc. began construction on the remodeling of the C gates at McCarran International Airport. The $7.9 million project, which was designed by Welles Pugsley Architects and Domingo Cambiero Architects, will consist of the renovation of about 170,000 square feet. It will also include the addition of two new gates, which will include an extra 5,000 square feet. Carson is scheduled to complete the project mid-2001. Bryce Clutts is project manager.
Harris consults on UNLV Gaming Institute building
Harris Consulting Engineers served as the mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineers on the 35,000-square-foot Stan Fulton building at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas’ International Gaming Institute. The contemporary, three-story, curved structure will include a full kitchen for training chefs, a restaurant and bar and a multi-purpose room designed to replicate a convention area with state-of-the-art video and audio equipment. The structure will also feature a large gaming area with a complete security system. The second floor will house classrooms and faculty offices, with the third floor offering a gaming library and video conferencing room. Classes in the building could begin as early as September 2000.
Ninyo & Moore retained for two projects
Ninyo & Moore will perform a design geotechnical evaluation for the Clark County School District, Spencer/Wigwam Middle School project. The project will consist of construction of a middle school and associated improvements, including concrete flatwork, curbs and gutters, pavement and ball fields. Ninyo & Moore will perform test borings, lab testing and preparation of a geotechnical engineering report with recommendations for design and construction of proposed improvement. The school is scheduled for completion in 2001. Ninyo & Moore will also provide geotechnical consulting services for the proposed Donovan Way street improvements project in North Las Vegas. The project will consist of the design and construction of approximately 7,000 lineal feet of half-street roadway alongside the existing Union Pacific Railroad.
Burnett Haase breaks ground on two projects
Burnett Haase Construction broke ground on Ocean Spray Cranberries’ western region distribution facility in Henderson’s Black Mountam Industrial Center. The 300,000-square-foot construction contract is valued at $7.6 million. Newport Beach, Calif.-based Western Realco is the project’s developer. Burnett Haase also broke ground on the Chicago Brew Pub, a microbrewery and restaurant located at Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache in the Village Square Shopping Center in Las Vegas. The 7,200-square-foot, $1.8 million project is being developed by TLC Enterprises of Las Vegas.
Crisci completes bank project, wins Hughes contracts
Crisci Custom Builders completed construction on the newest branch of Colonial Bank, located at 3625 West Russell Road in Las Vegas. The 4,065-square-foot building represented a team effort by Crisci with RAFI Architecture, Fielden and Partners for interior design and Colonial Bank senior vice president Jacqueline Parker. Crisci was also awarded two contracts for The Howard Hughes Corp. Crisci will handle a 15,618-square-foot renovation for Zurich/Farmers at 1140 Town Center Drive and a 3,819-square-foot suite renovation for The Severin Group at 1645 Village Center Circle, both in Summerlin.
RTC announces completion of downtown project
The Regional Transportation Commission of Clark County (RTC), along with its contractor Richardson Construction Inc., completed the redesign of the Downtown Transportation Center (DTC). With completion of the $1.9 million project, the DTC doubled its boarding area to 32 bays and can now accommodate many more passengers and hoses for the growing Citizens Area Transit Construction activities on the project included an additional parking lot, 16 new bus bays, a new staging area to accommodate six to eight buses waiting for bays and resurfacing of existing bays and driveways. Also added were 24-hour outdoor restrooms, a driver’s lounge and ticket booth.
