The Dr. Robert Hunter International Problem Gambling Center (PGC), Nevada’s leading nonprofit dedicated to the treatment of gambling addiction, has officially expanded service to include Reno, Nevada.
The Problem Gambling Center’s mission is to provide comprehensive evaluation, individual therapy, and group counseling services to individuals battling gambling addiction, as well as support for their family members and friends—regardless of their ability to pay.
“Our move into Reno allows us to expand access while informing northern Nevadans that we provide effective counseling for gambling addiction regardless of their ability to pay,” said Stephanie Goodman, executive director of the Problem Gambling Center. “This announcement strengthens our commitment to helping individuals and families break free from the grip of gambling addiction and reclaim their lives, which is especially important during the holiday season.”
Problem gambling affects approximately 6 percent of Nevadans, a figure significantly higher than the national average. Research has shown that gambling addiction is not a matter of weak willpower, but rather a neurological condition—a result of the way the brain is hardwired.
