Dr. Timothy Jeider, co-founder of Nevada Mental Health, the state’s largest child and adolescent psychiatric practice, will assume the role of president for the Nevada Psychiatric Association (NPA), starting May 9th.
Jeider was voted president by NPA chapter members and previously served as treasurer and president-elect. He served for one year in each of those positions and will also be president for a year. With beginnings tracing back to the 1970s, NPA is the Nevada chapter of the American Psychiatric Association.

As the host of the annual National Psychopharmacology Update conference, NPA generates funds to support the Nevada mental health community in a variety of ways. As president, Jeider hopes to continue to update and modernize the organization’s financial systems and practices, while finding the best ways to use funds for community support as well as legislative initiatives.
“My predecessors have built a strong foundation for me, and I’m excited and eager to get started,” Jeider said. “I hope that we become more proactive on the policy front, initiating legislation that safeguards the interests of patients and providers, improves access to care, and also makes Nevada an attractive place for psychiatric professionals to relocate to or start their practice.”
Jeider is a double-boarded psychiatrist with specialized training in child and adolescent psychiatry. A graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, he went on to complete his General Psychiatry Residency at Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, and then his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at UNLV. He cares for pediatric populations at residential treatment homes, a partial hospitalization program, and intensive outpatient program.
