LAS VEGAS – Service satisfies. Following a long tradition of helping others, teachers and students will work on service projects on campus and across the community from 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 8 in the annual Faith Lutheran Middle School Service Event.
Off campus, Faith Lutheran Middle School staff and students will bring items to teachers at Lincoln Elementary; clean, sort baby clothes and prepare baby bottles at the Women’s Resource Center, pack and distribute food boxes at the International Church of Las Vegas; organize, clean and pack at Foster Kinship; host a “little barn” for Horse for Heroes; and make Easter Carnival baskets for Faith Lutheran Community Church; and feed homeless people at Cup of Hope.
On campus, Faith Lutheran students and faculty from the English and Theology departments will work in the school gym and classrooms to make gifts bags for nurses, staff and residents of El Jen Healthcare & Rehabilitation, a convalescent hospital, and Wentworth Nursing, an assisted living and memory care provider.
Horse for Heroes is a nonprofit organization that owns and operates Las Vegas’ Horses4Heroes Family Equestrian Center. Foster Kinship, also a nonprofit, helps the 33,000 Nevada children living with relative caregivers.
Cup of Hope, a group of nonprofit ministries, provides comfort, meals, showers and conversations with people experiencing homelessness and delivers meals to hungry people and families. Groups of 25 students will bus to the sites.
In a dozen years of operating, the Middle School Service Event has involved more than 8,250 students and aided more than 50 local nonprofits.
