LAS VEGAS – Faith Lutheran Middle School’s long time Middle School Service Event is back, bigger than ever, and onsite at 23 local nonprofits and schools.
On April 6, hundreds of middle school students will volunteer across the Las Vegas valley at 23 local nonprofits, at-risk elementary schools and senior centers for the school’s annual Middle School Service Event.
From 9:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., students will volunteer on projects ranging from crafting and playing games with clients at local senior centers, to creating and assembling Easter baskets for kids in foster care to picking up litter at Clark County parks.
The Middle School Service Event teaches students about the importance of giving back to their community and serving others. After the volunteer projects are completed, the students head back to the school for self-reflection and to prepare a recap about their experience to be presented to the entire school.
“We’re excited to bring back the Middle School Service Event onsite,” said Sarah Harper, Faith Lutheran’s middle school principal. “This event is a real and authentic application of our learning about serving others when we get out of our classrooms, our comfort zones, and in the Las Vegas community.”
In the 16 years of operation, Faith Lutheran’s Middle School Service Event has involved more than 10,500 students and aided more than 100 local nonprofits.
