Unite with civic leaders, businesses, and advocacy organizations across Nevada to GO PURPLE in April and show your support for victims of crime.
Each year the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime calls on Americans to remember victims, and support efforts to ensure their voices are heard. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is set for April 23-29th, and this year’s theme is Survivor Voices: Elevate. Engage. Effect Change. In recognition, Marsy’s Law for Nevada crime victims’ rights advocates ask all Nevada residents, civic leaders, and businesses to unite and GO PURPLE. Jack Stansbery, Marsy’s Law Executive Director says, “Our goal is to bring awareness about the needs of victims and the rights they now have in Nevada thanks to the 2018 voter passage of Marsy’s Law for Nevada. We also want to recognize the outstanding advocates who work each day to protect and inform victims to see that justice is done.”
STATISTICS. Here in Nevada, law enforcement agencies investigated over 11,875 incidents of “violent crime” including murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, along with human trafficking in 2021. The statistics are in the FBI’s 2021 *National Incident-Based Reporting System, NIBRS.
GO PURPLE APRIL 23-29th. Marsy’s Law for Nevada will again unite with supporters nationwide to remember the victims and survivors. Casinos, sports venues, shopping centers, and civic venues will once again join community leaders and residents to GO PURPLE and create social media posts to bring more awareness.
