LAS VEGAS (June 17, 2026) – Longtime downtown Las Vegas residential developer, Cherry Development celebrated the grand opening of its third apartment community, shareWESTSIDE, a five-story building on the corner of D and Jefferson Streets in the Historic Westside neighborhood with elected officials, project partners, and community leaders today at a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception showcasing the modern live, work, play lifestyle the complex offers.
The grand opening celebration welcomed hundreds of attendees from the community as well as several dignitaries, including Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, city of Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley, city of Las Vegas Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong, Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II, and Cherry Development CEO Sam Cherry.
The most significant private investment project in the Historic Westside in decades, shareDOWNTOWN offers 104 one-bedroom units measuring about 580 sq. ft. Eighty-four of the units are designated for workforce housing, with rents starting at $1275 per month.
“Every Nevadan deserves the opportunity to have a safe place to call home and build a future,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “The shareWESTSIDE project reflects exactly the kind of progress Nevada needs – attainable housing and community development that strengthens neighborhoods and supports working families. This is a transformational investment that will create lasting opportunity here in the Historic Westside.”
“This shareWESTSIDE property is special because it is the first new residential complex to be built in the area in many years,” said Mayor Shelley Berkley. “It is in the heart of the Historic Westside, just across the street from the Westside Education & Training Center and the Historic Westside School. I am excited to see what future developments take root around this wonderful project.”
Highlights of shareWESTSIDE:
- Like its sister properties in the Arts District and Fremont East, shareWESTSIDE units have a uniform floor plan and feature contemporary design elements, such as modern cabinetry, wood plank-style flooring, quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances, including an electric cooktop and a smart all-in-one washer and dryer. A limited number of furnished units are available.
- Building security is bolstered with keyless front door locks, key fob main entry, secured surface parking, and remotely monitored cameras.
- shareWESTSIDE offers residents new and enhanced amenities. The HQ is a larger co-working space with free Wi-Fi, a flat screen smart TV, wireless printer/scanner, individual workstations, and private conference room.
- Known as the Kitchen, the building’s public hospitality space has an expansive food prep area with community dining tables. Next to the Kitchen is casual seating on a covered patio that leads to an open-air courtyard.
- The building also has a private movie viewing room and an enhanced fitness center with Peloton access, free weights, cardiovascular equipment, yoga room, and a universal strength training system.
- To pay homage to the neighborhood’s history, shareWESTSIDE incorporated items salvaged from the New Jerusalem church, which previously occupied the building’s site.
- Many of the project’s partners were businesses in the Westside community, like TV Interiors owned by Westside resident TaVangelia Chanjoy-Wren, which oversaw the interior design and décor of the building’s public spaces, model units, and fully furnished apartments.
“Community has been at the heart of the prior two shareDOWNTOWN projects in the Arts District and Fremont East, and shareWESTSIDE has been a partnership with the Historic Westside community for us,” added Sam Cherry, CEO of Cherry Development, which launched the shareDOWNTOWN apartment brand to create more residential housing options in downtown Las Vegas. “We are proud that the project reflects the people, history and culture of the Westside community.”
