{Las Vegas physical therapy assistant becomes an advocate for other patients, increased awareness}
Tell Every Amazing Lady About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation (Tell Every Amazing Lady® or T.E.A.L.®) The Las Vegas T.E.A.L.®️ Walk/Run™️ will be held at Lone Mountain Park, 4445 North Jensen Street, in Vegas, on October 12 at 8 a.m.
The event is spearheaded by Coralissa Delaforce, a local physical therapist assistant who has beaten ovarian cancer once and is currently battling a recurrence. Even though her battle is ongoing, the walk/run is one of many ways she aims to share her story and the importance of early diagnosis with thousands of other women.
“I wanted to bring something to Las Vegas to raise awareness. There’s so much more education that can be done,” Delaforce said. “Last February a good friend passed away from ovarian cancer and that gave me the extra push I needed to follow through with this.”
Diagnosed in August 2022, Delaforce had just turned 49 that year and was fresh off of finishing her fourth sprint triathlon. Feeling fatigued and fighting abdominal pain, testing revealed stage 3 ovarian cancer. After surgery and six rounds of chemotherapy, Delaforce was cancer-free and chose to live life to its fullest, and not take a single day for granted.
She raised money for Tell Every Amazing Lady About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation also known as T.E.A.L.®, a national nonprofit that supports ovarian cancer survivors and those going through treatment while also funding research. Coralissa ran on Team Tell Every Amazing Lady® in the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon. Invigorated to help others more, she then set out to schedule the first Las Vegas T.E.A.L.®️ Walk/Run™️ and get the word out about not ignoring symptoms.
“Early detection is key to survival,” she added. “I know for many women it’s common to feel tired or bloated as we get older, but I tell everyone not to ignore these symptoms. You have to ask questions, and really advocate for yourself.”
