Much like many theaters across the nation, The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, a historic theater located in the heart of downtown Reno faced significant financial challenges this past year. With the theater temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, local restaurant Wild River Grille is making an effort to help raise additional funding support through the sales of a new seasonal cocktail.
To date, the Pioneer Center has canceled over 50 performances, resulting in substantial revenue losses for the theater. As a nonprofit arts organization, these unexpected losses have a tremendous financial impact on the organization, staff, and community.
When the organization asked the community for support, Wild River Grille, a nearby partnering location, offered a supportive hand. Starting this September, the restaurant will offer a seasonal cocktail served in a souvenir tumbler traditionally sold during Broadway theater performances at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. The delicious cocktail creatively named “If Hemingway lived in Reno,” features Rum, House Sage Simple Syrup, Lime Juice, and Topped with Champagne. For every cocktail purchased, $2 will be donated back to the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.
While they eagerly await the time when they can share in the joy of live performance again, Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts remains steadfast in their commitment to their nonprofit mission and the community. The organization states that they are committed to the belief that the arts are an essential part of our community’s quality of life and well-being. By donating to the organization, individuals support the mission’s continuation to facilitate and present the highest quality performing arts programming in northern Nevada.
