Reno, NV – Nevada Rural Housing (NRH) is thrilled to announce it has been awarded the 2024 Single Family Excellence Award by the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA). This prestigious accolade recognizes the outstanding success and innovative approach of NRH’s Buy in Nye Homeownership Program.
The Buy in Nye Homeownership Program, developed to address the specific housing challenges in Nye County, provided essential financial assistance, education, and resources to help residents achieve homeownership. The program’s success is a result of the collaborative efforts between NRH and the Nye County Commission, which approved the funding and program proposal, making this initiative possible.
“We are incredibly honored to receive the 2024 Single Family Excellence Award from NALHFA,” said Bill Brewer, Executive Director of Nevada Rural Housing. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and the invaluable support from the Nye County Commission. Together, we created a program that not only increased homeownership rates but also strengthened the community.”
The program offered comprehensive benefits, including down payment assistance, affordable mortgage options, and thorough homebuyer education courses. By focusing on the unique needs of Nye County residents, NRH has helped dozens of families throughout Nye County achieve their dream of homeownership, contributing to the stability and growth of the local community.
“The success of the Buy in Nye Homeownership Program would not have been possible without the support and approval from the Nye County Commission,” added Brewer. “Their commitment to addressing housing needs and supporting innovative solutions has been crucial in making this program a reality. This award is as much theirs as it is ours.”
Funding for the Buy In Nye Homeownership Program was fully expended at the end of 2023, however, ongoing opportunities for down payment assistance and access to affordable credit are available including the recently released Launchpad Homeownership Program that offers a 6.17% mortgage interest rate with down payment assistance. The Launchpad program was also made possible with the support of the Nye County Commission.
