Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marinela Maskuti to the role of Mental Health Wellness Officer. Maskuti brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked with Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD), University of Pennsylvania Hospital and University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). She holds a bachelor’s in business administration, a master’s in public health, a doctorate in public policy, and is certified in Mental Health First Aid and CPR. Maskuti has also achieved her CITI Biomedical Research Certification.
In her new role, Maskuti will work with the NSHE Mental Health Task Force (MHTF) to conduct a system-wide assessment of the mental health and emotional wellbeing of its students, faculty, and staff. She will also work with system and institutional leadership to identify, coordinate, and provide mental health first aid training, suicide awareness and prevention training, and professional development opportunities to faculty, staff and, students across the system.

As the Mental Health Wellness Officer, Maskuti will maintain responsibility for NSHE system-wide mental health needs assessment by planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting activities. She will also ensure compliance with all grant reporting requirements and obligations, as well as design and draft internal and external memoranda, written reports, and other products relevant to the mental health needs assessment and system-wide training programs.
Maskuti is a proud member of the American Public Health Association and co-chair of the Nevada Cancer Coalition. When not working, Maskuti enjoys hobbies like traveling, hiking, dance, fine arts, biking, painting, and studying foreign languages.
