Mighty Smiles recently opened its doors in North Las Vegas. Located at 4210 Craig Road and led by the dental team of Drs. Amanda Campbell and Vanna Truong, Mighty Smiles provides full dental care to children up to age 18, in addition to care for special needs patients of all ages.
Mighty Smiles offers a fun and welcoming environment with the latest state-of-the-art technology to treat patients. The team works with parents and kids to develop customized care, specific to each child’s dental needs and comfort level. The goal is to make kids excited about their smiles and to educate parents on the importance of good oral health. The clinic’s most popular staff member is a mini border collie named Frankie, a certified emotional support dog. Frankie’s main job is to greet everyone and to help anxious kids.
For some special needs patients who require full sedation, Campbell and Truong are fully credentialed with a surgery center to accommodate their needs. Mighty Smiles has worked with patients who are on the autism spectrum, those with Down syndrome, and many with isolated genetic disorders, among others.
“Working with patients who have special needs requires skills that are difficult to learn in school and are only developed with experience,” Campbell said. “Furthermore, most dental offices do not have access to a surgery center and knew it was something we needed to have in order to effectively serve our patients.”
Truong, who is a graduate of the UNLV School of Dental Medicine added: “Through the years, we have seen many practices say they are not equipped to handle special needs patients, and yet there is nowhere for them to refer these patients. Dr. Campbell and I wanted to create a practice that could give these patients the care they need.”
