LAS VEGAS – OptumCare Cancer Care has completed its Las Vegas cancer research office and hired two new health care professionals to staff it. Christine Martinez, MS, CCRC, has been brought on as a clinical research coordinator, and Nicole Stephens, PhD, has been hired as a research regulatory coordinator.
The research office is led by Dr. K. Saad Jahangir, MD, who is the director of OptumCare Cancer Care research in Las Vegas. William Jordan, MBA, MHA, is the director of research operations, and Amy Hale, PharmD, BCPS, RN, is the clinical research pharmacist.
The mission of the research office is to strive to eradicate cancer through clinical trials and subsequent research. The goal of the program is to fulfill the mission by conducting clinical trials in three phases in order to discover new protocols that may improve overall survival and quality of life in cancer patients.
OptumCare Cancer Care is now entering its second phase of development, which includes creating a clinical trials action committee. The committee will include the clinical trials office, finance department and legal services.
For future trials, OptumCare Cancer Care is actively engaged in developing infrastructure and procedures for a billing department. In the second part of this phase, it will acquire a management system for clinical trials registration and follow-ups.
