REGISTRATION OPENS FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIES’ OPERATION STOCKING STUFFER
~Register a Child in Need Starting November 1~
Reno, Nev. – Each year, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada collects Christmas stockings for children who may not be receiving other gifts this holiday season. Through the help of generous donations, Catholic Charities will provide more than 1,200 unique stockings to children served by Catholic Charities and St. Vincent’s programs in Washoe County and across Northern Nevada. Registration for children infant to 18 years of age, will open on November 1 and are limited to the first 1,200 registrants. Parents are encouraged to register online at ccsnn.org or by calling (775) 322-7073 extension 250. Please note that children must be pre-registered in order to receive a stocking.
“Operation Stocking Stuffer is such a heartwarming program for the recipients as well as the donors,” said Lisa Ross, director of community outreach and engagement for Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. “Our stockings are often the only holiday cheer the children will receive, so this year we decided to raise the number of stockings to 1,200 registrants. Throughout the year we’ve seen the need and know that our generous community will support the growth.”
To assist with Operation Stocking Stuffer, Catholic Charities is asking community members to donate pre-filled Christmas stockings for children ranging in age from infants to 18. Each stocking should have a value of $20 and can be filled with small toys, clothing, toiletries, treats, books, games, gift cards, etc. Please do not include perishable items. The organization will be distributing gender specific stockings to the following age groups: infants up to one year of age, 2-5, 6-9, 10-13, 14-18. Please label all stockings with intended age and gender.
Stockings may be dropped off at St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop located at 500 East Fourth Street (corner of Fourth and Valley) in downtown Reno, Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Donations will be accepted for this event through Friday, December 10, 2021.
Catholic Charities will also be accepting cash and check donations to help fund the purchase of additional stockings. Donations can be made by visiting the website or mailed to: CCNN, PO Box 5099 Reno, NV 89513, Attn: Operation Stocking Stuffer or by shopping our wish list on Amazon Smile.
