(May 22, 2025 – Reno, Nev.) – Reno City Councilwoman and Vice Mayor Kathleen Taylor announced today that she has formed an exploratory campaign to evaluate a potential run for Mayor of Reno in 2026.
“I have filed the paperwork to explore the opportunity to run for the office of Reno Mayor,” said Councilwoman Taylor. “Over the next four months, I will listen to voter concerns, research new and innovative proposals, and seek out the opinions of residents across our city. I will make a final decision and announcement on or before Labor Day.”
Taylor, who currently represents Ward 1 on the Reno City Council, said Reno is at a pivotal moment.
“Reno is facing a growing budget deficit, and we need leaders who are willing to make tough decisions, cut through the noise, and focus on results,” Taylor said. “I’m a no-nonsense problem solver, and I believe in tackling issues head-on—with transparency, accountability, and a strong sense of purpose.”
The 2026 election will determine Reno’s next Mayor, as Mayor Hillary Schieve is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.
