RENO, Nev. – With more than $4.7 million given to date, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation recently increased that total by $165,100. The nonprofit that oversees the annual Barracuda Championship PGA TOUR event announced that 19 organizations received donations from funds raised in 2021.
“It is a proud tradition of the Barracuda Championship to give back to our local Reno-Tahoe community that our tournament has called home for over two decades,” said tournament director Chris Hoff. “We are pleased to support so many incredible organizations that are making a difference in the Truckee, Lake Tahoe, Reno, Carson City and surrounding areas and to further the PGA TOUR’s mission to engage, inspire and positively impact our fans, partners and communities worldwide.”
As part of the proceeds raised for local charities, the Barracuda Championship raised $11,467 for the 2021 Birdies for Charity initiative, bringing the overall total to $215,361. Birdies for Charity raises money for participating charities by collecting tax-deductible pledges based on the number of birdies made during the Barracuda Championship.
The 24th annual Barracuda Championship is scheduled for July 14–17, 2022. For more information about the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation and the PGA TOUR event at Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood visit BarracudaChampionship.com.
