New life given to venue at Keystone Avenue and 5th Street
Resident show Magique opens Aug. 28

RENO, Nev., — It’s been a cinema, a nightclub and a community theater performing arts center. Now, the 8,700-square-foot venue tucked back in the corner of the Keystone Square Shopping Center has been completely revitalized and re-opened as The Theatre, a performance venue available to rent and home to Magique, the new venue’s resident show starring renowned international illusionists Kevin & Caruso.
Though the centerpiece of the new performance venue is the 199-seat theater, complete with four raised VIP platforms, the space also includes a 1,400 square-foot gallery, a lobby and additional flex space that can be configured for special events and other uses.
The interior has been completely refreshed with a bold color palette of red and blue, accented by large graphic text elements in black and white. The gallery features colorful, large-scale images from Kevin & Caruso’s shows as well as several elaborate showgirl costumes on display.
The state-of-the art performance stage is well equipped to handle the lighting and audio needs of most any group.
“This is such a special space that’s really unique in terms of both the layout and the vibe,” said owner Kevin Jeffrey. “It’s a modern, edgy alternative to renting a casino ballroom or school theater. We are already booking groups for rehearsals, shows and recitals, but it could also be used for talks and presentations, weddings, private parties, art displays and so much more. It’s a fashion-forward, versatile venue for just about any event.”
Jeffrey has been entertaining audiences for nearly two decades and has traveled the world performing his unique potion of magic, comedy and razzle dazzle. Growing up with Reno as the backdrop and casino nightlife as the spotlight, it seemed natural for him to manifest a career in show business.
Along with his partner Caruso, Jeffrey has starred in and produced some of the biggest and longest-running illusion shows in the world. Now, they bring their technical wizardry, artistic sensibility, good-natured grand illusions and audience participation to The Theatre.
Kevin & Caruso’s Magique is staged and directed by seven-time “Show of the Year” award recipient, Mistinguett, and is loaded with stunning special effects, dazzling costumes, a catchy soundtrack, multimedia backdrops, synchronized lighting and grand illusions.
Magique opens Saturday, Aug. 28. Shows are every Saturday night from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 for general seating, $50 for front row seating and $250 for VIP platform seating. VIP platforms accommodate up to four guests and includes a meet and greet with the cast, show poster, and a complimentary bottle of champagne or sparkling juice.
The Theatre is located at 505 Keystone Ave, just off I-80 in the Keystone Square shopping center. Ample free parking is available. For tickets or more information, visit wethetheatre.com or call 775-234-2112.
