Karen Gastineau, Senior Hydrogeologist at Broadbent & Associates, spoke at this year’s National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Program (NAAMLP) conference in Grand Junction, CO. Gastineau presented Broadbent’s work on the former Three Kids Mine site in Henderson, Nevada, sharing information on plans to remediate the site using a precedent-setting funding mechanism. Gastineau went into further detail regarding the cleanup process for the former Manganese Mine which includes environmental characterization, a proposed plan for remediation, and the federal land transfer process.
